As a sign of solidarity, fans of several Romanian football teams are collecting money to send to the families of PAOK fans who died in the accident.
Seven Greek fans died in the accident and three others were seriously injured. The driver of the minibus transporting the fans from Thessaloniki to Lyon for a football match crashed head-on into a heavy lorry after attempting a dangerous overtaking maneuver.

„As a sign of solidarity, we will be present at the entrance to the stadium with a donation box at Saturday’s match against UTA. The money raised will go to the families of the PAOK fans who lost their lives in this accident. If you come to the match, we invite you to join them and contribute. Every little bit helps”, said Peluza Nord Pitești, a fan group supporting FC Argeș team from Pitești, southern Romania.
Fans of other football teams in Romania – Poli Timișoara, Dinamo Bucharest, UTA, U Cluj-Napoca, Minerul Lupeni and maybe some other – also showed solidarity with Greek supporters.
The Timiș County Council also announced that „all expenses related to accommodation and meals for the relatives of the victims of the accident involving Greek supporters of PAOK Thessaloniki, will be covered entirely by us”.
