Transfăgărășan road to be opened next week along its entire length, Tudor Duţu, general manager of the Braşov Regional Roads and Bridges Directorate, says.
„These are the last preparations before the opening of this road section. We hope that next week we’ll be able to return this beautiful road to traffic. We still have to make widening in the turning areas, we still have to install the signaling and so on.
We are doing our best to open the road by the middle of next week”, Tudor Duţu says.
The snow layer reaches, in some places, two meters or even more, but this is not something out of the ordinary in Transfăgărăşan.
In the previous years, the road was fully opened to traffic before July 1, as we reported at the time.
Caution for motorists: be careful before starting your journey on Transfăgărăşan road. It is a wise idea to have winter tires on your car, and to get your car/bike prepared for winter driving conditions. High up, at over 1,500 meters, the weather can be like in the middle of winter. And it may change suddenly.
