The well known British tennis star Emma Răducanu, the last winner of the US Open, will play at the Transylvania Open tournament, which will be held in Transylvania’s biggest city, Cluj-Napoca.
„My father is from Romania, so to participate for the first time in a WTA competition in the country where he was born is a special moment and I can’t wait to get to Cluj-Napoca… I am extremely excited to play at the Transylvania Open, in front of Romanian fans”, Emma Răducanu says for the Chinese newspaper South China Morning Post.
The tournament Emma is going to play in will start in October 23, next week and will end eight days later, in October 31-st. One of the favorites to win Transylvania Open is going to be Romanian former WTA leader Simona Halep, one of the Emma’s idols, alongside with former Chinese star Na Li.
Emma Răducanu (ranked 22-nd WTA) was born in November 13, 2002, în Toronto, Canada, from Romanian father and Chinese mother. She’s living now and represents Great Britain, due to the fact that her family moved into UK soon after her birth.
