Designed as an annual call for papers contest, the Ratiu Forum History Prize aims to raise awareness among history students about their future role as educators of the younger generations and also to challenge the general public to reconsider the importance of understanding and acknowledging history as part of collective memory.
”The award contributes to the enrichment of the theoretical framework related to controversial topics in Romanian history, encouraging critical thinking and innovative research papers.
By addressing sensitive topics, the Prize stimulates a critical approach in analyzing not only specific national historical patterns, but also public attitudes towards minorities and extremist beliefs.
The Prize is part of The Ratiu Forum’s Teaching of History Programme, which seeks to explore the various versions of History that are taught in school and how these versions further influence public attitudes towards socio-political realities.
We are pleased to invite Romanian enrolled MA and PhD students of History and related fields (Law, European Studies, Political Studies, Philosophy, and Sociology) to submit their research papers investigating the historical developments and experiences surrounding war and revolution in Romania’s 20th century”, Ratiu Forum says in a press release.

Please observe that while submissions may be in either English or Romanian, applicants must be fluent in English. The Rațiu Forum History Workshop is exclusively in the English language, so good knowledges of that is a must.
The Ratiu Forum is a joint initiative by the Ratiu Family Charitable Foundation, the Ratiu Democracy Centre and the London School of Economics IDEAS Think Tank. Romania and the Balkan region are priority areas of interest for The Ratiu Forum.
