The contest ”Grand Stories. Journalism Awards 2026: The End of the Cold War – 35 Years After” is open for journalists from all countries, freelancers included.

”This year’s edition focuses on the legacy of the end of the Cold War and on the ways in which the events of 1991 continue to shape contemporary politics, societies, identities and international relations”, the organizer, Poland based NGO European Network Remembrance and Solidarity (ENRS) says.

”We are looking for original journalistic works that connect the history of the end of the Cold War with contemporary realities. Eligible formats include reports, feature articles, interviews, personal narratives, podcasts, radio broadcasts, television reports and documentaries”, ENRS mentioned.

Entries may be submitted in three categories

• Written
• Audio
• Audiovisual

The winner in each category will receive a prize of €2,500.

Each participant may submit up to three original works published or broadcast between 1 January and 15 October 2026. All entries must be available in English; works originally produced in another language must be accompanied by an English translation.

Submission deadline: 15 October 2026, 11:59 p.m. CET (Central European Time). Full information, the competition rules and the online submission form are available here.
