Romanian car maker Dacia recently unveiled Hipster, a small car which promises to be the cheapest electric option available on the European market.
The new Dacia Hipster is not small, but very small: is only 3 meters long and weighs less than 800 kg. Shorter and lighter than any other electric car currently sold in Europe.
As you can see in the photos below, the design is minimalist. The same goes for the features. The doors, for example, have no handles, just a simple belt. Some design elements were taken from the Dacia Manifesto concept car, presented three years ago.

Dacia Hipster is also just a concept car, for now. But, ”if the opportunity arises to mass produce it, we are ready”, says Karin Adt, CEO Dacia brand. Our sources have informed us that the Dacia Hipster will be produced „in a factory in Europe”. It can be the Dacia factory located in Mioveni, southern Romania. But most probably it will be the Renault group’s Revoz factory in Novo Mesto, Slovenia.
However, in order for the new electric Dacia to be sold on European markets, the European Union needs to adopt the legislative framework for small cars. Otherwise, Dacia could start the production of the new Hipster as early as next year.
According to our information, there will be two versions of the Dacia Hipster: one with a battery that allows a range of 150 km, and another with a more powerful battery and a range of at least 200 km. The maximum speed for both models will be around 90, maybe 100 km/h.
The entry-level version is expected to cost less than €15,000.
