The former Brazilian striker Romario de Souza Faria (known simply as Romario) is a legend of football. Everyone around the world knows that, even those not loving football.
Few days ago, AiScore Sports from Singapore showed up with a story telling us how fabulous this Romario has been as a striker. The story belongs to another great football player and coach, Johan Cruyff.
„One day, Romario asked me if he could miss training to go to Brazil for carnival.
I said: ‘If you score 2 goals tomorrow you can go.’ He scored twice in 20 minutes against Real Madrid and asked to be replaced. ‘Coach, my plane leaves in one hour.”
Some of the Romario’s fabulous figures: 110 matches played for PSV Eindhoven, in Dutch Eredivisie (between 1988 and 1993) and 98 goals. 46 matches played for CF Barcelona in La Liga in the next 2 years and 34 goals scored.
He also played 88 matches for the Brazilian national teams, scoring 74 goals. Almost one goal each match. As a player, Romario (born 29 January 1966) won just about everything a footballer could win, except for Copa Libertadores. That’s simply fabulous!
